Security fencing has become more popular in South
Africa, amongst homeowners as well as industrial applications. Selecting
a security fence from the right type of steel makes a big difference
to the amount of maintenance required, to keep the fence free of rust
and to keep it looking aesthetically pleasing. Lets face facts - rust
streaks running down a garden wall won't inspire the homeowner that the
security protection will be around for long.
Painted
mild steel may soon develop underfilm creep - tell tale signs
of the coating being lifted a way by hidden corrosion. Sharp edges
are rapidly corroded away - sharp edges are required on security fencing
to ward the intruders off.
Galvanised
steel left unpainted may not fit in with the environment. Wherever
modifications are made after the galvanising has been done, will become
initiation points for corrosion to commence. With time the galvanised
coating will corrode away. It is purely a surface treatment that will
eventually disappear and leave the base metal exposed to the elements
and start corroding. The time that this takes will depend on the thickness
of galvanised coating that has been applied.
Painted Galvanised steel tends to flake, as so often
we have seen the paint coating not adhere sufficiently to the galvanised
coating. With time, the paint peels away and the fencing needs re coating
- a costly exercise,
3CR12 was developed as a Corrosion
resisting steel, suitable for use in structural applications. Not only
does this material have excellent corrosion resistance, it also has superior
strength when compared to mild steel. It is for these two reasons that
3CR12 was selected as the ideal material for fencing to be manufactured
by Secure4Life.
Our corrosion resisting steel palisades and wall spikes offer
the following advantages:-
- At least 12 times more rust resistant that galvanised
(at the coast)
- Maintenance Free
- 30% stronger than mild steel products
- Extremely sharp
- Available in either uncoated corrosion resisting steel or
powder coated to the colour of your choice.
- Recommended by police and security personnel
as the preferred access barrier to your property.
